Of all the cakes I've made, this is the most special one....I made this one for my mom's surprise 70th birthday party! She lives in Houston, Texas with my sister. When my sister threw in the idea of surprising our mom on her 7oth birthday and that she wanted me to make the cake, I knew the cake design should be something very elegant and yet simple to make. Since I will be making this in somebody else's kitchen (my niece kitchen in Houston!), I wouldn't have all my equipment and gadgets....but there was no way I was going to compromise my mom's cake for that reason!.....I would love to talk about how it all happened and my mom's reaction....but I'll just sum it all up with my mom's comment while we were having breakfast the next morning...."that was the happiest moment of my life!" It's the sweetest thing to hear your mom say that....to know that my brother who also flew from Toronto, my sister and I were able to make that one memorable day in our mom's life!!!
As for me, it was also one weekend that I'm gonna cherish forever!
